Getting the protein you need in a vegan diet

Many people ask the question, ' but will I get enough protein on a vegan diet?'.

Western cultures have promoted protein from animal products at every meal; therefore many people are concerned when starting out with vegetarianism and veganism that they will not meet the appropriate requirements on a plant-based diet.

Rest assured there are wonderful and varied choices for adding protein to the vegan diet, some of which you probably eat daily anyway.

The following links will help make it easy for you to eat a balanced, healthy diet as a vegan. Enjoy!

Go Vegan to Stop Global Warming

Sharonanddavid_2Juliabutterfly Russellsimmons Christyturlington

According to the UN, the waste emissions from animals raised for food contributes more to Global Warming than all the car and truck emissions in the world!

As part of the world-wide Global Mala Project, Jivamukti Yoga Schools around the world are asking their friends to go vegan to stop global warming!  Join Sting, Trudie Styler, Christy Turlington, noted  philanthropist Bobby Sager, Donna Karan, Russell Simmons, environmental activist Julia Butterfly and Jivamukti creators Sharon Gannon and David Life, who have all pledged to be vegan on Friday September 21, 2007- The United Nations International Day of Peace.

Live in Harmony, GoVegan

The practices of yoga create peace in ourselves, and that peace will be reflected in the world around us. If we truly want world peace we must begin by embodying that peace ourselves. The practice of yoga will end war, even wars of which we often are not even aware. Unfortunately, there are many human wars being fought on this planet at this time, but the ongoing war is the war against Mother Nature; human beings versus all other animals as well as the planet. Traditionally, the yogi is that member of society who strives to live harmoniously with Mother Nature. The true test of moral fiber during these violent times is not to stand against war but to stand FOR peace. Speak out for peace, live peacefully, think well of others, do what you can to uplift the lives of others. Find a way to live so that your own life enhances the lives of others. Give up the love of power for the power of love. Peace will come when we have given up hateful thoughts, cruel words, and violent actions in our own daily lives. Cultivate hopeful thoughts, sweet speech and kind actions. Don't wait for a better world. Start now to create a universe of  harmony and peace. It is up to you. It always has been!
